This neoclassical marble building is situated in the center of Athens and houses the National Library of Greece. The foundation stone was laid back in 1888 but the building did not function as the National Library until 1903. It was financed by three Greek brothers of the Diaspora and designed by a Danish architect who also designed the neighboring buildings of Athens University and the Academy of Athens.
