Fritillaria obliqua is a rare wild flower endemic to Attica and Evoia
where it grows in very small populations.

Unfortunately, for various reasons it is threatened with extinction.
This is the reason why it is included
in the “Red Book of the Rare and Threatened Plants of Greece”
and is protected by Law.

It blooms from early February to early April
at altitudes from sea level to 1000 m.
mostly on rocky grounds with sparse bushy vegetation.

Fritillaria obliqua

IMG_5215 [Fritillaria obliqua]

“The Last of the Mohicans” for 2018 at Schinias area or to put it differently the last obliqua available to anyone who would like to take a picture of it. All other plants had withered! I guess I should have been there at least 10 days earlier if I wanted to have found a better “model”.
