8011997 [Aphrodite]
A statue of Aphrodite made of Parian marble and found in Southern Italy. It formerly belonged to the collection of Lord Hope. The neck, head and right arm were restored by the famous Italian sculptor A. Canova (1757-1822). This version of Aphrodite was made in the 2nd c. AD with Syracuse Aphrodite being the original which goes back to the 4th C. BC.
